Update September 16, 2021
The Province of Alberta has reinstated pandemic health measures. For the moment we plan to continue to be open for retail hours on Fridays and Saturdays 11am-4pm, and other times by appointment when we can have a second person available to come in. Masks are mandatory for all visitors and retail workers; the glassblower will not be wearing a mask when she is blowing glass and is not able to approach visitors. Our occupancy limit in our gallery is maximum 2 people from the same household. If we already have a customer in the studio kindly wait outside until they have left before entering. Please do not come by outside of our retail hours without having booked an appointment as the glassblower who is working by herself will not be able to look after you. Please request your appointment at least 24 hours ahead so that we can arrange to have someone come in and confirm your appointment. Update September 14, 2021
While we have been cautious all summer and never stopped the practice of masking in our studio, as of September 4 masks are once again mandated by the Province and so are required to be worn by everyone visiting or working at our studio, except for the person who is actively blowing glass.
Update July 7, 2021
Despite the recent lifting of Covid restrictions, Fireweed Glass Studio is opting to be cautious and we will be acting more slowly. All of our current safety protocols remain in place for our business. As a destination in a tourist town, we have contact with many people traveling from all over the place and cannot confirm our visitors' vaccination status. We ourselves have not yet all been fully vaccinated, we have family members with co-morbidities who we need to protect, we know from experience how completely disruptive it is to our business if one of us gets sick, and we would be devastated if a visitor were to get sick after visiting our studio. So for now, we continue to wear masks when not blowing, practice good covid hygiene, and require visitors to wear masks when in our gallery and ask you to please use the hand sanitizer provided at the front door. We have a maximum capacity of ONE COHORT of up to four people, so if we already have a visitor when you arrive, we kindly ask you to wait outside until they have finished up and exited before you enter. If someone is blowing glass you are welcome to watch from outside through the open bay door. We have an online store and offer pick up options for those who wish to not wear a mask. We are OPEN on Fridays and Saturdays 11am to 4pm or by appointment and ask that you do not show up at other times without an appointment because we will not have the staff to look after you. This has been a really long haul and we are all desperately tired of this pandemic but it's not over yet and even as we are excited to welcome visitors to our Hot Shop this summer, the health and safety of our families, visitors, and ourselves remains our top priority. Our customers through this pandemic have been absolutely wonderful and we thank everyone for your continued patience, understanding, and support.

We have opened Saturdays up for appointments if you would like to come in to shop, or place or pick up an order. Please click HERE to book your appointment.
We will be updating our availability as the pandemic evolves, please check our website for the most current information. For the time being we are only open by appointment; no drop-ins please as we need to ensure we have the staff to look after you. If it is already Saturday and you don’t have an appointment, please phone us at 403-609-9333 before heading over.

Update April 5, 2021
As a precaution due to a close contact testing positive for Covid-19, we will be closed to the public, including not accepting appointments, for the next couple of weeks, while we watch to see how this plays out. We are still operating and will do what we can to facilitate our clients’ needs. Masks are mandatory in compliance with the town of Canmore by-law that came into effect on August 7th, 2020.
MAX capacity is 2 people at a time.
